7 Things to Do in Seattle If You Still Need New Year’s Eve Plans
If you’re still at a loss for plans here in Seattle, no need to worry! Here are 7 ways to ring in the new year, whether you’re looking for dancing and DJs, or a quiet night out with the kids.
1. New Year’s Eve pARTy at Chihuly Garden & Glass
Located at the base of the Space Needle, Chihuly is opening up The Glasshouse for a party with drinking, eating, dancing, and a perfect view of the fireworks right above you. The Glasshouse also features one of famed Seattle glassblowing artist Dale Chihuly’s longest suspended glass installations. The party includes some light appetizers and desserts, two complimentary drink tickets, a champagne toast at midnight, and dancing with the Michael Benson Band. This event is 21+. 2. New Year’s Eve at the Thompson Seattle
The Thompson Seattle isn’t having just one event this year—they’re having three! The night kicks off with their “Sky’s the Limit” dinner at Scout PNW. They’re offering two awesome tasting menus. In the main dining room, they’re offering a 6-course tasting menu by Executive Chef Derek Simcik. The 10-seat chef’s counter will have their second tasting menu, that will offer a more intimate and interactive 10- course experience. Next up is their “Walk on the Moon” party at their rooftop, The Nest , with DJ Neil Armstrong (Jay-Z’s former World Tour DJ). 3. “New Year’s Eve: Great Balls of Fire!” at the Seattle Symphony
Celebrate over 100 years of piano’s greatest hits with pianist/singer Tony DeSare. Highlights include Elton John, Ray Charles, John Lennon, and Rhapsody in Blue to finish it off. 4. Indulgence at MoPOP
Swing by Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture (MoPOP) for a night of music and comedy. An annual event, Indulgence has sold out the past few years, so get tickets while you can. Not only do you get access to the party and entertainment hosted in MoPOP’s incredible SkyChurch, but the entire museum will be accessible for ticketholders to explore some of their coolest exhibits. 5. Countdown at the Bayou at Capitol Cider
What better way to celebrate 2018 than a New Orleans themed party with a burlesque performance, a magician, and psychic readings? 6. Wilde Rover New Year’s Eve featuring the Herding Cats
If you’re looking to celebrate on Seattle’s eastside, look no further than Wilde Rover in Kirkland. The Herding Cats are a favorite of ours at SHW, and Wilde Rover offers a warm, intimate venue. From Johnny Cash to Queen, these three guys play it all and are just as fun to watch as they are to dance to.
7. New Year’s Eve at the Seattle Children’s Museum
For a celebration with the kids, stop by the Seattle Children’s Museum for a fun day. Each hour beginning at 11 a.m., they celebrate New Year’s in a different time zone, including India, Russia, Ethiopia, Turkey, France, Morocco, and Brazil.
