Q&A with Korrin Bizek, VP of Destination Management & Incentives

For this month’s Employee Spotlight, we’re thrilled to shine a light on Korrin Bizek, VP of Destination Management & Incentives.
Korrin’s journey started nearly two decades ago and has evolved from managing programs to now spearheading our Destination Management & Incentives division, where her enthusiasm for travel and community impact continues to shine. From her early days in HR to becoming a seasoned event professional, Korrin’s story is one of growth, mentorship, and an unwavering love for connecting people with places.
We sat down with Korrin to learn more about her career path, her favorite moments at SHW, and her tips for exploring Seattle. Join us as she reflects on her journey, shares memories from recent projects, and gives a peek into what makes working at SHW so special.
Q: What brought you to SHW and how has your career evolved since you started?
A: When my job with Sonicare relocated across the country, I knew I wanted to stay put. Thankfully, through industry connections, I was introduced to SHW (at that time Seattle Hospitality), and the rest is history. It’s been a remarkable journey over the past 18+ years. As a Program Manager, I quickly realized how much I had to learn. With invaluable mentorship and a steady stream of growth opportunities, I took on increasingly complex client programs and eventually began managing a team. Each step has been marked by open doors and unwavering trust from my colleagues. I can’t help but chuckle when I think of that once wide-eyed young professional who used to feel daunted by coordinating a single transportation move!
Q: Can you share a bit about your background before joining SHW?
A: Prior to SHW, I worked 6 years at a credit union, then another 6 years at Sonicare. As a young professional, I had always enjoyed the “side” part of my job that had to do with organizing events… from planning the credit union’s launch into the World Wide Web (yes, I’m that old), to heading up the charity board at Sonicare and planning epic company-wide fun. When my HR job was restructured, I was offered a full-time gig in Marketing planning their SKO and working alongside the trade shows crew. That is when I was introduced to the world of travel and it clicked: the reason I loved event planning went beyond wielding the clipboard and leading the charge. It was about the joy on attendees’ faces. Still to this day, it’s a total rush!
Q: What does your current role entail and what do you enjoy most about it?
A: Last spring, I had the incredible opportunity to take the lead on SHW’s Destination Management and Incentives division. I’m thrilled to dive back into DMC work—the core of SHW and where my journey here began. I believe wholeheartedly in the value of partnering with a DMC wherever you go; they are the true experts and champions of their own communities. The incentive side has grown naturally from DMC work, as both focus on providing an exceptional experience in a destination. Incentives are all about reward, recognition (a nod to my HR roots), and the thrill of exploring new places. I’m genuinely excited to help clients turn their visions into reality!
Q: What’s the most exciting project or event you’ve worked on recently?
A: I am currently in Rome for a large incentive trip, bringing together two of my passions – travel and hosting! I am a bit of a history nerd so visiting one of the world’s oldest cities is mind blowing. I saw where Caesar was killed… it’s now a cat sanctuary!! Welcoming attendees here, being that friendly face at the end of their long journey, and setting the tone for an exciting week where they’ll experience all the city has to offer – it truly warms my heart!
Q: What’s your favorite thing about working at SHW?
A: The people. Hands down. They are the heart and soul of our company. This job is not for the weak of heart and at times can be pretty difficult, stressful and tiring. Without fail, our colleagues swoop in, giving full support whenever and wherever. I’ve been extremely fortunate to both work alongside and manage many, many fine professionals.
Q: What’s your favorite place/experience in Seattle and/or secret tip to the city?
A: I cannot imagine living in a place not next to water. From rivers, to lakes, to Puget Sound, to the coast… Seattle provides in abundance! I’m the happiest when I’m either on or looking at water as it brings me much peace and calm. My tip to all visitors – get on the water! Ferries are the most available and take you to the magical San Juan Islands! My top two: Bainbridge Island and Whidbey Island. And if you can, take a float plane to Friday Harbor where I spent a few summers as a kid. Absolute heaven!
Q: Any hobbies or interests outside of work that inspire you?
A: I’m obsessed with Broadway and to my ultimate delight, so is my daughter. She is my date for all the great shows that come to Seattle – and of course I love watching her on stage! I love football (a “12” for 40+ years) and now hockey, thanks to my husband and son. I’m not a runner, but my husband and I love to take our dog for long walks and hikes – one of the best ways to enjoy the PNW in all it’s glory.
