THE PROJECT

Major League Baseball (MLB) chose Seattle for All-Star Week in 2023 and SHW was tapped to coordinate and manage their All-Star Brunch in concert with the live Red Carpet Show broadcast at Pike Place Market. This important event not only celebrated the players, but also included families, so the festivities needed to be VIP, engaging and inclusive for all ages.

THE APPROACH

A primary goal for this event was to keep things local and highlight the city and its suppliers. From salmon throwing to creating their own All-Star gum wall, SHW engaged with Seattle’s premier event partners and Pike Place Market vendors to roll out the red carpet for nearly 400 VIP athletes and their families. This was a first-ever public event at Pike Place Market (which needed to remain open as usual) that brought some logistical complexities to the planning process. SHW balanced stakeholders and acted as the “glue” between Major League Baseball, the Seattle Sports Commission, Pike Place Market, and the Seattle Police Department to produce this unique event at the level fit for a national stage. In addition, SHW worked closely with the MLB Marketing Team to coordinate and incorporate the MLB brand into the event design.

THE IMPACT

We were able to showcase signature Seattle hospitality and truly knocked this event out of the park. From the facility management, to food & beverage planning, from entertainment and activations to AV, SHW managed over 12 event partners and 16 Pike Place Market vendors to bring this one-of-a-kind event to life.
