Expedia wanted to reward employees at the end of the year with a tremendous holiday event, something they hadn’t done company-wide. Their goals required us to think carefully about every aspect of the event. With their diverse workforce, they wanted a celebration that didn’t scream Christmas, and it had to tie in with their business of travel.
THE APPROACH
We developed three unique themes, built out with recommendations for interactive elements, unique food and beverage touches, venues, and look and feel concepts to show executives a full picture of how the event would go.
To build excitement to encourage attendance, we worked with the Expedia team to tease employees with hints about the party’s theme, ending with a reveal event at company headquarters.
THE IMPACT
The first year about 3,000 employees and guests showed up. Not bad. But word got out that this was THE event of the season, and the following year attendance grew by 50%. (Then Covid. Ugh.)
